how to use plasmo proximity chat mod on grandma's house

First of all, this is only available to Donut and above. This is to avoid trolling.

Fair warning, this includes modifying your client.

If this overwhelms you, please take the steps at your own pace, worry about one at a time.

Part A: Installing a mod loader

A mod loader is a modified version of Minecraft that allows you to add mods in a plug-and-play situation.

It also allows mod makers to have a common “language” to modify Minecraft in.

The two main languages of modding are Forge and Fabric.

We recommend Quilt Loader, which uses the Fabric language.

Before you start:

Make sure that you have, at least once, booted up the current version that Grandma’s House is on, in bare bones default Vanilla.

Example:

Grandma’s is currently on 1.20.1.

You need to have booted up Vanilla* 1.20.1, at least once.

*Vanilla means the default game, no mods, bare bones

Now that you have checked that, here’s the steps broken down as much as possible.

1) Go to https://quiltmc.org/en/

2) Click the “Install” button, then “Client”

3) This will make you download a file called something like

“quilt-installer-X.X.X.jar”

4) Place it anywhere you’d like

5) Open the location you put the “quilt-installer-X.X.X.jar” file.

6) Double click it to run it.

You should now be presented with a window, asking what version you want to install.

It should default to newest vanilla release.

7) If Grandma’s House is not on the newest release of Minecraft, make sure to choose the version we are currently on.

The loader version does not matter, we can leave it as is.

8) “Generate profile” is ticked by default, as it should.

9) Make sure the normal Minecraft Launcher is closed.

10) Click “Install”

11) Now, reopen the Minecraft Launcher

12) You might now see a new Installation appear under “Installations”

If not, you can create a new one by clicking New Installations. Click the drop down menu under Versions and choose the quilt loader version that matches the current version of Grandma’s House.

When you have made sure there is an Installation with quilt, you can move onto Part B:

Part B: Installing the Mods

1) Go back to the main page of the Minecraft Launcher

2) To the left bottom side, make sure that quilt is selected from the drop down menu.

3) Click “Play” and wait for the game to launch

If you get any errors, locate the installation like in A12 above.

Click the folder button, and locate a folder called “mods”.

Make sure the inside of that folder is empty.

Start Minecraft again with the “Play” button.

4) If the game has launched successfully, close the game.

Quilt has now created the necessary folders for the next steps.

5) Locate your Quilt installation like in A12.

6) Click the folder icon, which should open a folder.

7) Locate the “mods” folder and open it.

Keep this window open for the upcoming steps. This is the folder where we will be placing the mods to install.

8) Go to https://modrinth.com/mod/fabric-api

9) Under “Featured versions”, choose version number that matches the current version of Grandma’s House.

It will be called, for example, “[1.20.1] Fabric API 0.85.0+1.20.1”

10) Click the version

11) Click “download” which will give you a file called something like “fabric-api-.85.0+1.20.1.jar”

12) The file needs to be placed in the “mods” folder from step B7.

How you get the file to the folder is up to you. One way to do it, is to save the file somewhere easy to find, then drag it from there into the “mods” window you have open from B7.

13) Go to https://modrinth.com/plugin/plasmo-voice

14) Under “Featured Versions” there will be a myriad of options.

15) You need the one called something like “[Fabric 1.20.1] Plasmo Voice 2.0.6”

16) Click the version.

17) Click “download” which will give you a file called something like “plasmovoice-fabric-1.20.1-2.0.6.jar”

You may have already guessed, that this file also needs to find its way to the “mods” folder from step B7.

When both files are placed in your mods folder, you can now do the last step:

18) Launch Minecraft with quilt, like you did in step B3.

Part C: Enabling it on the server

1) Join Grandma’s House Survival

2) When you are in the server, press V on your keyboard.

This should make the Plasmo Voice menu pop up, where you can set up the microphone and other settings.

Make sure you have the right devices selected and your microphone is working.
