A Titan’s Ode
If you are reading this, thank you. Whether you’re a new player or someone who’s been here for years, I appreciate every single one of you.
We created Grandma’s back in December 2019 (Available to public January 2020) because of the incompetency of the server we used to play on, and wanted to do something better. Since then, I’ve stayed and done so so much work to maintain the server, through dramas behind the scenes and big changes. I have had Grandma’s for longer that I’ve had most of my current IRL friends.
It’s been an insightful, thought-provoking, healing space that I am proud to call my second home.
For the past 3 years, I’ve done a lot of work behind and in front of the scenes to reduce the dependency on me as an Admin. There was a point in 2021/2022 where I realized, I was the only one who knew how to do 80% of the tasks on the server. Since then I have optimized and made easier for custodians to do, well, everything. Streamlining and streamlining and streamlining.
As I got more serious about school, friends IRL and other long-term projects, along with my Minecraft special interest taking it’s last breath for good around summer 2024, I made one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever made in my life so far.
Which leads us to today.
After 5 years and approximately 4500 playtime hours, spending the first half of my 20’s on this server, it is with a million emotions in my heart that I tell you:
I will be demoting myself to Player, taking effect March 1. 2025
This will be a transitional period, as we devolve my access to things, and I carry out my last remaining duties, mainly carrying out my last round of Custodian Applications.
So, if you’re interested in helping the Custodians keep up the server, Applications are now open.
